AmaMagdalena: Elegant river cruising in Colombia

When it launches on March 15, 2025, the 60-passenger AmaMagdalena is due to be the first major river ship designed to sail on the Magdalena River in Colombia.

Custom-built for the Magdalena, nicknamed the River of a Thousand Rhythms, the all-suite ship will provide "unparalleled service" and "exclusive experiences" on Colombia's longest river, according to AmaWaterways. The river flows 950 miles through the heart of Colombia from the Andes to the Caribbean Sea.

The river is renowned for its biodiversity, and so each cruise will include nature and wildlife experts, and activities will include kayaking, hiking and birdwatching. There will also be an onboard wellness host. Guests can relax and unwind in the ship’s rejuvenating sun deck pool, enjoy a massage or work out in the spacious fitness room.

Where AmaMagdalena sails

The ship will feature two seven-night itineraries along with optional pre- and post-cruise land tours that will explore Colombia's cultural heritage and scenery.
