Our review
American Symphony: Modern sightseeing on the Mississippi
The 175-passenger American Symphony launched in August 2022 and offers historic sightseeing along the Mississippi River. The ship features an updated modern interior design to complement its spacious all-balcony staterooms, numerous lounges and public spaces with panoramic views. Its focal point is an impressive four-story glass atrium at the center of the ship.
American Cruise Lines is known for its roomy accommodations, and here they range from 250 to 650 square feet and have full-size bathrooms, spacious closets and private balconies where you can enjoy complimentary room service during breakfast each day. The new ship also features a forward-facing observation lounge, fitness center and yoga studio.
While other small cruise lines repurpose old casino ships, American Cruise Lines tossed out the idea of traditional paddlewheel boats and built a fleet from the ground up. The result is a ship that will be quieter, wider and faster than other river ships — and also among the most environmentally friendly in the industry, the cruise line says.
