Sea Cloud: Exploring the world under full sail
There's a history of ships sailing the seas and windjammers, the graceful square sail ships, are part of that history. Sea Cloud is a ship with a soul, commissioned by Marjorie Merriweather Post and her husband E.F. Hutton, and launched in 1931. The ship has played host to royalty, known service in wartime, and sailed the world over. She is a vessel of incomparable grace that harks back to the golden age of ship travel. Once you’ve been on Sea Cloud under full sail, you’ll begin your own love affair.
Sea Cloud accommodates up to 64 guests in 28 outside cabins, including two original owner’s suites that still feature original marble baths and fireplaces. At 360 feet she is an expansive ship with extensive public spaces on the top deck, where we luxuriate in deck chairs and watch the crew go aloft in the web of riggings to hand-set her 30 sails. Dining in the restaurant accommodates all guests at once for a single seating. Life aboard is a uniquely pleasing mix of elegance and informality — a return to the golden age of sailing in shorts and deck shoes. You’ll find all shipboard services impeccable.
Visit ports of call in the Mediterranean, Adriatic and the Caribbean. On a Sea Cloud cruise, you have the opportunity to experience smaller ports such as Corfu (Greece), Rovinj (Croatia), Playa Ancon (Cuba), and Casablanca(Morocco). When you sail into port, this lovely ship attracts attention. On sea days, you can relax on deck or in the lounge. Or take part in water activities when the ship drops anchor in a small bay. Or just listen to the wind in the sails as you drift off to sleep.
