Our review
Diamond Princess: East meets West
Diamond Princess from Princess Cruises is a true East-meets-West experience. A bit more subdued than most cruise ships, Diamond Princess is a blend of Asian culture, with women wearing kimonos on formal nights, and the Western carefree attitudes of Australians and New Zealanders. The reduced capacity of the ship, at 1,700 passengers, makes for a laid-back atmosphere for those who are looking for a relaxing getaway with interesting people.
Who will like sailing on Diamond Princess
Most passengers are older travelers looking to explore intriguing port cities in Japan and South Korea, although you will find some young families and people in their 30s and 40s.

Activities
During the day, the bars and lounges are often transformed into trivia games. There are also ping-pong and golf-putting challenges alongside enrichment programs featuring everything from hula dancing to language classes. There is also a daytime version of Princess' Movies Under the Stars, with both Japanese and English movies. The atmosphere is busy, but still relatively quiet.
Family
Like most Princess Cruises, child activities are grouped off based on age, from Princess Pelicans (ages three to seven) and Shockwaves (ages eight to 12) to Remix (ages 13-17). However, due to the culture, children aren't found as often on the Diamond Princess.
Entertainment
A variety of acts grace the Princess Theater, whether it's the traditional song-and-dance shows or talent specially from Japan or Australia. In the afternoons, this theater shows movies. And of course, the Princess tradition of Movies Under the Stars is highly anticipated by all cruisers.
All the bars and lounges have music at night, ranging from piano classics in Crooners to DJ music at Skywalkers Nightclub. But for those who don't like music, there are always trivia nights and interactive game shows.
Dress code
The standard is resort casual during the day, with a more dressed up casual at night. There are two formal nights on the cruise, although most people opt for cocktail dresses as opposed to formal gowns.
Here's a video from Princess that tells you more about Diamond Princess's features.
