Our review
American Serenade: A modern riverboat for exploring the Mississippi
American Serenade offers elegant decor, panoramic views and spacious staterooms in its sailings along the upper and lower Mississippi River.
The ship, it's important to note up front, is not one of those old-fashioned paddlewheel boats associated with the Mississippi. Rather, it's a modern riverboat with a clean design, uncluttered decor and several pioneering innovations.
One of the standout features are the spacious staterooms, running 250 to 650 square feet and featuring full-size bathrooms, large closets and private balconies were guests can enjoy breakfast room service. Other highlights include the large, beautiful sun deck for relaxing and the four-story glass atrium at the ship's center for taking in panoramic views of the passing landscapes.
The ship's innovative hydraulic bow and retractable ramp allow it to dock at small harbors that larger ships can't access. Inside, a handsome design incorporates natural textural elements and serene color palettes. Other features include a fitness center, a walking and jogging track along the top deck and several spacious lounges for sipping cocktails and mingling.
Serenade is nearly identical in design to its sister ships American Melody and American Symphony.
